What Makes Some CBD Tinctures “Relaxing?”

When you start shopping for CBD tinctures, one thing you'll soon notice is that there are a lot of options. Some CBD tinctures will be specifically labeled "relaxing." CBD on its own does tend to take the edge off of stress and help you relax. However, if a CBD tincture is specifically labeled "relaxing," there is usually something about it that makes it more relaxing than your average, plain, CBD tincture. What that might be varies from tincture to tincture. Here are some of the top possibilities.

CBN

CBD is the best-known hemp cannabinoid, but it is not the only one. Hemp also contains other cannabinoids, one of which is CBN, or cannabinol. CBN tends to be even more relaxing than CBD. As such, many CBD tinctures that are high in CBN or have had extra CBN added to them are labeled "relaxing." Such tinctures would be good ones to take before bed, or when you really don't plan on doing anything other than lying on the couch all day.

Terpenes

Terpenes are aromatic chemicals found in hemp. The word "aromatic" means that they are easily aerosolized and have an aroma. When you smell hemp, it is mostly the terpenes you are smelling. Some of these terpenes, like linalool and myrcene, have been found to be extra relaxing. So, a CBD tincture that contains lots of terpenes may be labeled as a "relaxing CBD tincture." If you see a tincture labeled "full-spectrum," that also means it contains all of the natural hemp terpenes, which means it's likely a good choice for relaxation or sleep assistance.

Chamomile

Chamomile is an herb that people have been using for relaxation for a long time. Chamomile tea is often enjoyed before bedtime. When combined with CBD, chamomile tends to enhance its relaxing properties. So, some of the relaxation CBD tinctures you see might be enhanced with chamomile oil or extract.

Valerian Roof

Valerian root is another herb known for its relaxing properties. It is sometimes blended with CBD to make a more relaxing tincture. Some of the relaxation CBD tinctures you see may actually contain both valerian root and chamomile. These would be really potent, helpful ones to take at bedtime.

The next time you see relaxation CBD tinctures, pick up a bottle and take a closer look at the label. It may be any of the items above that make that particular tincture relaxing.
