Using Monarda Essential Oil In Your Home

When you think of essential oils, there are a few which tend to come to mind immediately, such as lavender, vanilla, and tea tree. Indeed, these common oils all have their places and can be enjoyable to use around the home. But they are not the only essential oils out there, and you'll be missing out if you don't expand your horizons and start trying a few others. Monarda essential oil is a good one to try because it has a fresh, appealing scent and can be used in many ways, including the following.

Fighting Blemishes and Skin Problems

Monarda essential oil has natural antibacterial properties and is therefore helpful for fighting acne blemishes and similar skin problems. It's not as harsh or potent as tea tree oil, so if tea tree oil tends to irritate your skin, consider using Monarda instead. You can add a drop or two to your normal moisturizer before you go to bed and simply smooth it all over your face. Alternatively, dilute it with a little olive or almond oil, and dab that mixture directly on your blemishes before bedtime.

Promoting Sleep

In aromatherapy, Monarda oil is often added to blends that are intended to promote relaxation. Even used alone, it can help you relax and fall asleep when you are suffering from a little insomnia or some anxious thoughts at night. Simply put a few drops in a diffuser, and diffuse it through the room. You could also simply put a drop on your forehead; the aroma will waft downward and relax you.

Preventing Illness

As mentioned above, Monarda has antibacterial properties. It can also help your body fight off viruses. If someone in your home is sick and you do not want to catch it, diffuse some Monarda oil into the air. You can also take a warm bath with a couple of drops of Monarda oil each night before bed.

Relieving Headaches

Many headaches are due to stress, and since Monarda oil can help you relax, it can also help ease headaches. The easiest way to get relief is to rub a little of the oil into each of your temples. You can also diffuse it into the air, sit back, and take a few deep breaths.

If you're building your essential oil collection, Monarda is definitely a good one to add. It's quite a versatile oil, as you can see from the many uses above.
